A day in the life of a… Data & Insights Senior Strategy Manager

Name: Wojciech Bednarz

So, what do you do?

I work in the Data Science & Audience Insights department, which mostly involves working with our Data Management Platform (DMP) to uncover in-depth behavioural, attitudinal, and intent-led information on people's online brand interactions, helping to maximise efficiencies thanks to improved targeting. For example, a typical project would be to complete the implementation of the DMP for a client or across other businesses, and then to process and analyse that data to inform campaigns and strategies. I'm responsible for the technical setup, the audience creation, and generating insights - as well as building products around this service that could help clients.

What's on the agenda for today?

09h00: I usually start my day with a cup of hot chocolate and go through some industry blogs related to data analysis and insights, and then I dive into my emails.

11h00: I'll likely be working on an insights project for one of our clients, for which I'll analyse demographic, interest and behavioural data to provide our delivery teams with a better feel of the client's potential audience.

14h00: I'll prepare for any upcoming meetings - today I've got a quarterly review meeting with our DMP partner for the rest of the day.

What's the best thing about your job?

I enjoy the fact that I get to work with numbers and data, and that my main focus is on analysis.

What's for lunch?

I haven't decided yet, but most likely it'll be something from Leon.

How did you get started in digital marketing?

I first started seven years ago as a digital marketing intern at a different company, and from there I decided to pursue a career in digital. When I joined Greenlight, I began in the Client Services team, which certainly helped give me a broader understanding of digital marketing and how the various services at Greenlight intertwine and reinforce one another. This knowledge has certainly fuelled what I do today!

Plans this evening?

I have a long commute back to my home in Oxford, but once home, I'll just have a nice, relaxing evening with my wife to detox from all the data crunching.

What's the coolest thing you've learned on the job?

My position allows me to work with plenty of diverse clients and, because of that, I've had the opportunity to be exposed to a multitude of verticals which is always interesting. Another great thing about my job is that I get to work on some more experimental projects for certain clients, which is pretty cool!
