Domestic locations dominate Hotel searches, London and Edinburgh top the list

Consumer online searches for hotels in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, York and Cardiff proved to be the most popular in February, hauling in over 307,000 queries, reveals the latest quarterly search data from Greenlight.

Images increasingly important to search yet few sites are optimised to take advantage

According to Google, image search makes up about 5.7% of all Google searches and 5% of all search is image related. Yet few sites are optimised to take advantage. A recent survey of the top 20 websites thought to have fairly advanced SEO, undertaken by Elasticera, highlighted their optimisation in this area was poor, at best. Entertainment searches have fallen 13% since January, with games suffering the most

The number of UK consumer online searches pertaining to entertainment in April – from Movies, Going Out, Gaming Consoles & games and Music, dropped 13 per cent on January’s level, reveals the latest entertainment-related search data from Greenlight. The Gaming consoles & games subsector, saw the sharpest fall.

Greenlight's latest entertainment report reveals there were 698,064 less online searches for entertainment terms in April, a 13 per cent drop on January's level. Music saw the smallest drop however games games suffered the most.

However, most people only really have a superficial understanding of it, restricted to knowing that it’s about links and that the more quality links you have pointing to your site, the higher you will rank. When pressed on defining what ‘quality’ means within this context, and pressed to explain how Google determines it, many ‘ SEOs’ will at best draw you a diagram showing that quality links are those where the page doing the linking is linked to by other sites itself. This is great but doesn’t define ‘quality’ as a relative measure, because that’s what it is.
