Last year, Google revealed plans to make one of the biggest changes to AdWords it had ever made with the announcement of Enhanced Campaigns. By no longer allowing advertisers to split campaigns by device its announcement was met with much furore and scepticism. Bing Ads was quick to assure customers it had no plans to do similar. However, last week it reneged on this to much disappointment.

5 months since Enhanced Campaigns (EC) went live, I find myself eating my own words with the process not actually being that painful and some incredibly exciting new targeting features to match. EC in fact, has turned the Search world on its head, making us think beyond the keyword and instead, about the person behind it. This will see audience targeting become one of the biggest trends for 2014.

10 years ago, when Google maps was first released, the search giant had already foreseen that the future of Search was going to be related to mapping. However, by adding another feather to its bow compliments of its acquisition of Waze, serving users with relevant, non-infringing ads within the mapping interface is now finally being realised.
