Over the past few months we've seen some interesting changes to Google search making it more socially compatible. First Google launched the +1 button, which left many initially underwhelmed. However, when Google+ launched, many changed their tunes. It wasn't long before people started seeing their first set of personalized results based on what their friends had +1 and shared.

Is Google+ the Beginning of the End for Social Influence Services like Klout and Peer Index?

Google+ introduces some fundamental shifts in the way users engage with social media. The best part is that they are hidden under one of the smoothest and easiest to use UIs I have seen in a while. There's an established order to a mass chaos of messages (circles), topical analysis (spark) and the ability to collaborate through text and video (huddle). While these features are downright cool, they are not the heart of this post. Instead, I'd like to discuss the bigger picture - what these features really stack up to. One small, but massively inventive feature is the launch of verified authors Google+ profiles within Google SERPS.

Consumer online search for holidays double with the term ‘cheap holidays’ dominating

Consumers in the UK looked to book their holidays well in advance of summer, according to Greenlight's latest quarterly research, ‘Holidays February 2011’. The report reveals 3.1 million holiday-related searches were conducted on Google in February compared to 1.2 million in the previous quarter.
